Homework/Classwork for September * Regents Physics * M. Francesco * TZHS
Week 1: Write a good copy of the lab report for ___.
Lab #1: To Determine the Thickness of a Page: I want you to come up with a way to measure the thickness of one page of your Physics textbook as accurately as possible using nothing but a ruler. Think of how you can minimize the error involved. If you haven't a clue where to start, this movie might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7txxf-bCps
Read this before you write your good copy and proof read your scrap copy for error.
a) Get the parent letter signed signed . Staple it into the homework you will hand in _ (10 pts)
b) Sign up for an ID and password at the University of Texas. Record both somewhere convenient that you can access at home or in school and give me a copy, tearing off the bottom slip of the instructions page and staple it to the top of the homework due__. (10 pts)
C. Book work: Problem Set #1 (click on it) It involves reading the first chapter of textbook with bookwork done on looseleaf. (80%)

Monday : finish the first learning unit. Hand in your lab report, signed parent letter and book work on __, and finish the UTexas Math review by Tuesday night.
will be our first Test. It will cover scientific notation, significant digits, metric units and conversions, vectors & scalars and using the 5 kinematic equations. Study problems like those we've done in class. If you want to test yourself over the weekend there is an optional Utexas practice test on Units & Measurement opening on I won't use the grade, but you could see how ready you are by how easily you get them right. Solutions will post ___. There are also notes and practice materials on the class "Notes & Study Materials" page and suggested pages in the purple Regents review book.
Start the 3rd learning unit on ACCELERATION in class. We will have group work together on . What you don't finish those days becomes homework for ___ .
Lab report#3 with stapled graph: good final copy due Monday October 3.
.
If you are interested in entering our school district's contest to send an experiment to the moon go to
Do the Second UTexas assignment on the 5 Kinematic Equations. Closes Thursday night (50 points).
Motion detector lab due Monday
Week 3: First UTexas assignment due online by Tuesday night, Sept 23.
Log on to UTexas at home and pick up the first assignment called "Math for Physics". You just type in your answers online and it tells you instantly if you are right or wrong and gives you ten points. If wrong, you can guess again, but you get less points. Don't round anything in your answers.....the program needs you to put in all the digits. You can skip around and do a few each night until all 50 are done. You will have some time to work on it in groups in class as wellon Monday (offline - bring hardcopies) .
TEST Friday 9/27 on Numbers, Measurement, and Motion
